Brand-New Home Inspection: Electrical Safety Defects Found Before Closing
Before my clients closed on their brand-new home, their realtor recommended a professional inspection to help ensure everything was ready before closing. During the inspection, I identified several items that needed the builder's attention, including GFCI receptacles that were not functioning properly. GFCI outlets are an important electrical safety feature designed to help protect against electric shock, especially in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and exterior locations. All of the findings were documented in the inspection report and provided to the builder so the issues could be addressed before closing. This is just one example of why I recommend every new construction home be professionally inspected before the final walkthrough.
